crossing bridges

I've wondered across The Kurilpa Bridge a few times since the bridge opened in 2009 and always been intrigued by the patterns the overlapping wires form, the size of the bolts and cables. I also enjoy the views from the bridge. At night the bridge is lit by LED lights which are solar powered and can be programmed to change colors - always a pleasant evening stroll. In recent years the bridge has also been included in the RiverFire Fireworks display. The pedestrian and bicycle bridge is 470m long and connects Kurilpa Point near GOMA in South Brisbane to Tank Street.
So towards the end of last year on one of my visits to GOMA I had my camera and sketchbook with me and wondered up onto the bridge and spent sometime pausing in the viewing platforms and rest areas to take a few shots and enjoy a little bit of sketching - very pleasant.

a handy shopping tote + free pattern

Using a couple of the fabrics from my Spoonflower Range I made these shopping totes to take with me to the Lifelife Bookfest. Since then I've also found the totes very useful for carrying our fresh fruit and veg that we pick up on our regular trips to the Twilight Markets
I snapped a few shots while I was making the totes and composed a little video on how I made them. I've also popped together a pattern sheet click here to download the pattern.

everywhere everyday

I'm revisiting a project I enjoyed a couple of years ago. For a twelve month period I engaged in a weekly project of using the camera to capture everyday moments around my immediate surrounds, our humble home. At the end of the twelve month project I compiled a few of these images together into a book called "A Gathering of Moments" I gained so much from doing the project and it truly does show you that creativity surrounds us everywhere everyday even amongst one's daily tasks. We commence this years project with a collection of kitchen moments including one of the yummy breakfasts I've made recently - home baked banana bread, drizzled with chocolate, a dusting of icing sugar and a couple of scoops of ice cream - a beautifully decadent way to start the day.
